( Yes, button/dial layout and menu system are valid reasons to go with the 7300 instead ) Perhaps a good product for Icom to develop would be an HF/VHF/UHF amplifier one could pair up with the IC-705.

Any radio in the top 20 is going to be good, but getting a radio in the top 4 is a pretty good thing! Actually hybrid SDR's are better than pure SDR's as demonstrated with the 7300, the FT DX 10 handles better noisy environment and doesn't get overloaded when the 7300 does because of that hybrid arquitecture.

Sadly my only complaint on the ftdx10 was a single antenna input. I wish it had a rx antenna input, it’s light years better then my 991a and much better audio out, my 991a would splatter the upper when Tx on lsb. Shift doesn’t have its own knob, it’s managed via Twin PBT. Yeasu FTDX10 has dedicated Width and Shift knobs, which I prefer. The shift knob on FTDX10 is way too fine, though, if you turn it 90 degrees either side the shift value is some 50-60Hz only, so you need to keep turning that knob a lot.Good. Still, the display on the 991A works well enough ( for me ) to dial something in, but it pales in comparison to the 7300 or the DX10 display.
